Honors Work, Year 2
Core 201: Global Foundations - Honors
The first semester of sophomore year, I took Global Foundations, a required course. This section was based on Human Rights in Asia. There were a lot of eye opening moments. For my final project, I created a website and presented on LGBT rights in India. I presented over this topic at a talk that was opened to the community. I was able to learn a lot and my eyes were opened to a lot of different things that are happening in India.

PHIL 316: Ethics - Honors
Second semester of sophomore year, I took ethics, a required course. In this class, we did an overview of many different philosophies of ethics. This class was taught from a historic approach. We went through the different theories through time, starting with Virtue Ethics and ending with Existentialism. It was really interesting to me because I had no idea what the different theories were when I went into this class. This course was completely paper-based and we wrote papers in class, so I was unable to preserve an article, unfortunately.
MUSC 321: History of Music
This class is one of my required music classes. We are learning about music, starting from the beginning and ending in the 20th century. For my honors work, I wrote a ten-page paper on the composer of my solo piece for first semester, Darius Milhaud. It was really interesting to look into his life and influences, and then to see how those are applied in his music.
Summit Project
This year, I partook in a year long service project as part of Summit Park Leadership Community. My group and I worked with Harmony House, Springfield's only domestic violence shelter. We created an Adult's Night Out. We visited the shelter once a month and showed a movie to the adults and provided childcare to allow for the adults to have some time off.

MUSC 322: History of Music
This is the second semester of history of music. It is also my last. Over the course of this semester, we learned about the time periods from the Classic era to the 20th Century. It was very interesting to look back and see how music has evolved. For my honors work, I again wrote a paper. This time, I wrote on Alexander Glasunov. He composed my saxophone piece. I also wrote on how sound is produced on the saxophone.
