Honors Work, Year 4
MTHP 0475: Music Therapy Capstone
In the fall of my senior year, I took Music Therapy Capstone. This class is just for the seniors of the music therapy program to get together and discuss relevant things for the future in our profession, such as how to get an internship. As part of this class, we went and presented about music therapy somewhere in the community. I was given the opportunity to go back to my high school to present to their AP Music Theory class. It is always a great time when I get to go back and spread the word about music therapy. The document attached is my presentation.
MTHP 301 and 401: Field Studies 3&4
Over the course of my school career, I was able to complete four practicum courses. In my senior year, I took my final two practicum classes back-to-back. I felt like I truly hit my stride in these courses and solidified what my path is in music therapy. I was given the opportunity to work in two different adolescent psychology settings. When working with these individuals, I felt my confidence grow and I was amazed by their willingness to participate and be vulnerable in music therapy sessions. In these courses, we also wrote program proposals. I chose to write a grant for a music therapy program at a camp for LGBTQ+ youth. I loved writing this grant and taking a peek at my future! The document attached is my grant proposal.
