To become a music therapist, you have to complete 1200 hours of pre-clinical training, per American Music Therapy Association standards. The final step in the undergraduate training is an internship, generally six months long, to complete all of those hours.

For my internship, I worked at the Metropolitan St. Louis Psychiatric Center in St. Louis, MO. This internship was in a state hospital, working with individuals who were deemed unfit to stand trial.
